Domain migration, SEO & content strategy for Oomph.

Client

‘Oomph’ create beautiful plastic cards, which have a variety of uses such as gift cards, membership cards or hotel key cards. They started life as ‘The Plastic Card Shop’, before re-branding and moving domains.

Oomph have grown to be one of the leading plastic card providers in the UK, integrating with the latest NFC and RFID technology with clients including Nintendo, Airbnb, Orange and Odeon cinemas.

The Brief

Oomph had always relied on paid search and required help to improve their organic visibility to increase sales and revenue in the UK, and reduce their reliance on PPC as a channel.

At the time were known as ‘The Plastic Card Shop’ and wanted to rebrand and move to a new domain, without losing any existing organic visibility.

Our Strategy

Our technical team developed a migration strategy and provided technical SEO recommendations for the new Oomph website and the move to the new domain.

This involved guidance prior to and during build, a technical audit and review of the development site on a staging server prior to go live, implementation of 301 redirects and post migration auditing and analysis.

While the ‘plastic cards’ industry is not highly competitive, it is a challenging environment to create content and PR that people want to really talk about. This has resulted in much of the competition resorting to techniques which are outside of Google’s guidelines, to help boost their visibility. Our approach would be very different.

Our content and PR team developed a content strategy to help target the profile of brands Oomph work with, increasing referral traffic, attracting links and improving social engagement. Oomph originally didn’t have a blog, or anywhere to host content, which our team soon changed!

Results

Oomph’s organic traffic has increased tenfold over the past 5 years of the campaign. They have the highest organic market share in the industry by a distance.

This has led to significant increases in conversions and revenue growth every year, and allowed a reduction in paid search spend.
