Client

Spotahome is a marketplace offering mid to long-term housing in over 30 cities worldwide. Each property is personally inspected by the Spotahome team, who take photos, record high-definition videos and create detailed floor plans with honest descriptions.

The Brief

Spotahome approached Screaming Frog with the primary aim of increasing their overall organic visibility, through high value link procurement. Due to the competitiveness of Spotahome’s vertical, it was clear from that start that global, multi-lingual content campaigns were required to contend across Spotahome’s target markets.

Alongside this, Spotahome were keen to ensure that their site was as well aligned as possible across the eight different languages that they offer, with no technical issues that could potentially hold them back.

Our Strategy

The Screaming Frog team developed an in-depth linking and content strategy, where key competitors were analysed to gauge what was required to compete, and early ideas where explored for feasibility. Multiple ideation sessions were run in order to create a road map of content over several months, consisting of data-backed and hard hitting indexes.

The chosen ideas looked at equality in Europe, the world’s healthiest cities, and the best urban cities for digital nomads, all of which were backed by highly reputable and up-to-date data sources. A huge amount of time was poured into finding and digesting reports from the likes of The World Economic Forum, Eurostat, OECD and more to ensure the research was accurate, fair and trustworthy. We even built our own internal tools that allowed us to query available APIs, significantly reducing the time required to compile the data.

Each of the pieces was designed and developed in house, and translated across five different languages. Meticulous planning and coordination was required by our PR team in order to effectively work with Spotahome’s internal resource and PR agencies within other countries. This meant that we could ensure that we were getting the piece in front of the right people, at a global level.

Results

The client experienced substantial exposure at a global level, and a 79% increase in linking root domains while working with Screaming Frog.

Screaming Frog also subsequently won the prestigious ‘Best SEO Campaign‘ award for our work, at the UK Search Awards.
