Search Console: Orphan URLs

back to issues overview

Orphan URLs

URLs that have been discovered in the performance report in Google Search Console, rather than internal links during a crawl.

How to Analyse in the SEO Spider

View URLs with this issue in the ‘Search Console’ tab and ‘Orphan URLs’ filter, and export all URLs using the ‘Export’ button.

This filter requires ‘Crawl New URLs Discovered In Search Console’ to be enabled under the ‘General’ tab in the Google Search Console config (‘Config > API Access > Google Search Console’) and post ‘crawl analysis‘ to be populated.

Read our tutorial on ‘How To Find Orphan Pages‘.

What Triggers This Issue

This issue is triggered when URLs are discovered through the performance report in Google Search Console, but are not found through internal links during a website crawl.

How To Fix

Review orphan URLs and link to them internally from the website if they should be accessible for users and rank in the search results.

Use appropriate directives such as ‘noindex’ if pages should not be indexed and receiving traffic.
