AMP: Missing Canonical to Non-AMP

back to issues overview

Missing Canonical to Non-AMP

AMP URLs with a canonical that does not go to a non-AMP version, but to another AMP URL.

How to Analyse in the SEO Spider

View URLs with this issue in the ‘AMP’ tab and ‘Missing Canonical to Non-AMP’ filter, and export all URLs using the ‘Export’ button.

The ‘Canonical Link Element’ column shows the canonical URL which does not go to the non-AMP equivalent.

Read our tutorial on ‘How To Audit & Validate Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP)‘.

What Triggers This Issue

This issue is triggered when AMP URLs have a canonical tag that points to another AMP URL instead of the corresponding non-AMP version.

For example:

https://www.screamingfrog.co.uk/amp/technical-seo/

Has the canonical link element:

<link rel="canonical" href="https://www.screamingfrog.co.uk/amp/technical-consultancy/">

Which is another AMP URL.

How To Fix

Ensure AMP canonical URLs correctly go to non-AMP equivalents, rather than to another AMP URL.
