back to issues overview

Invalid X Card Image

Pages that have a twitter:image specified that is not an image or does not have the filetype JPG, PNG or WebP that can be used in snippets of X.

How to Analyse in the SEO Spider

View URLs with this issue in the ‘Social’ tab and ‘Invalid X Cards Image’ filter, and export all URLs using the ‘Export’ button.

What Triggers This Issue

This issue is triggered when the twitter:image URL is either not an image, or a supported filetype (JPG, PNG or WebP) used by X.

Example:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<meta name="twitter:card" content="summary_large_image"/>
<meta name="twitter:site" content="@yoursite"/>
<meta name="twitter:creator" content="@author"/>
<meta name="twitter:title" content="Your headline"/>
<meta name="twitter:description" content="Your exciting description."/>
<meta name="twitter:image" content="https://www.example.com/example.html"/>
</head>
<body>
...
</body>
</html>

The twitter:image URL is incorrect as HTML https://www.example.com/example.html rather than an image format.

How To Fix

Ensure that the URL specified in twitter:image is an image, and it is a supported filetype to be used by X.
