Social: Missing OG Tags

back to issues overview

Missing OG Tags

Pages that are missing Open Graph (OG) tags.

OG tags are structured markup in the HTML about the content of the page that allow control of snippets used by social media platforms such as Meta, LinkedIn, Twitter, Slack and more.

How to Analyse in the SEO Spider

View URLs with this issue in the ‘Social’ tab and ‘Missing OG Tags’ filter, and export all URLs using the ‘Export’ button.

What Triggers This Issue

This issue is triggered when there are no OG meta tags in the HTML or they are all blank.

For example:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<meta property="og:title" content="">
<meta property="og:description" content="">
<meta property="og:url" content="">
<meta property="og:image" content="">
</head>
<body>
...
</body>
</html>

The content attributes are empty and should contain the relevant data for the page.

How To Fix

Review pages without OG tags and include them on pages where it’s important to control how the content appears on social media platforms.
